Hello and welcome to the first in a series of blog posts to keep everyone updated with all the services we supply at SWAY; with a focus on the sustainability practices that we offer, along with some industry features too. And no doubt, we’ll be having a bit of fun along the way.
To begin, we just wanted to help answer a recurring question we get from our contacts in the industry: ‘What happens to the waste that you collect from our unit base?’
SWAY Waste Management Service
Well, the answer is a long one but we thought that simply breaking down the varying levels of our waste management service would be a good place to start.
We should add, by the way, that these categories apply to the environmental impact your production can make and are not necessarily listed by cost.
Distance, size of unit base and crowd and crew numbers also need to be factored in. But we do appreciate that there is always a budget to work towards and our pricing structure is very competitive.
So, when it comes to planning your shoot, rest assured that all these extra tiers won’t necessarily lead to…more tears.
Standard – SWAY Tipper Trailers
To be used at your unit base for all mixed commercial waste and transferred to a Biffa waste management station for disposal. 24-hour delivery/collection, empty, base & location move service. Standard level of reporting is based upon data we receive from Biffa and Ahern.
Bronze – SWAY Tipper Trailer (commercial) + SWAY Tipper Trailer (dry-mixed recycling)
As above but with the addition of an extra trailer to separate general waste and DMR at your unit base. Allows for an improved degree of waste reporting for smaller productions operating on a budget – but still need to adhere to a sustainability strategy. Again, 24-hour delivery/collection, empty, base & location move service.
Silver – SWAY EcoPods
This is our most popular option, offering ease of separating different types of waste – including DMR, Vegware, food waste and general. Everything is kept in one place on location and we are able to generate concise and accurate reports after collection; including impact assessments based on weight conversions. 24-hour delivery/collection, empty, base & location move service, as standard.
Gold – SWAY EcoPods + SWAY AnoPods
Very similar to our Silver service but for large scale productions, with the capability to handle extra waste, particularly from catering. All food waste is then diverted to a full anaerobic digestion service with our partners ReFood and is converted as a source of renewable energy for the UK power grid. This closed-loop process also produces nutrient-rich biofertiliser for UK farming.
Bespoke – SWAY EcoPods + SWAY Sustainability Officer onsite
For full transparency and management of your sustainability programme, we can provide an independent officer at your unit base, to take full responsibility and oversee all aspects of waste control through the use of our EcoPods. With daily reporting and photographic evidence, we can ensure that you and your unit are really making the maximum effort to run a green production.
